Bobby has always wanted to play football. However, he was really short and skinny, which is not the best physique for this sport. Whenever he even mentioned that he wanted to play, the kids would always laugh and say: – You will get stomped down on the field! How do you imagine playing against the guys six feet tall?

Every time Bobby heard such hurting words he felt really down. However, his dad was always supportive of him and said that there is nothing a man can’t achieve if he really wants to. Whenever the boy said that he was much too small to play this sport, his dad would always say that height is not what defines an athlete. Instead of counting on mere physical strength, dad told Bobby, one should learn to become fast and outsmart the adversary – this is the principal way of scoring goals instead of just trying to sweep the adversary of his feet.

So Bobby did not give up. While still in elementary school, he tried to do as much exercise as he could. After coming to middle school, he signed up for a football team. The kids were still laughing about it and said that Bobby would never make it. However, the boy was persistent. Whenever coach told them to do this or that exercise, say, twenty times, Bobby went for forty. Dad still helped him through thick and thin and even signed up for team sponsorship to see in his eyes how his son was progressing.

Half a year passed, and Bobby was playing better than anyone in his team despite the fact that he was still the shortest. He learned a lot about strategies to go pass the adversary and successfully used them in games. It meant even more to him to see his dad at every single match and the pride in his eyes. In the end of the year Bobby was awarded as the best middle school football player at an athletic banquet. This is how a small dream led to an accomplishment to be proud of.
